On the way from Sintra to Porto, we stopped in Costa Nova to see the beautiful striped beach houses.  They say that they were painted this way to help fishermen find the shore and their house.

The town is small, and the houses are all on one small strip.  This is really the highlight, so stop by if it’s on the way, but don’t go out of your way.
